Accused drug dealer nabbed after chase through Indian River County

Passenger also jailed on weapons charge; both suspects held without bond

An accused drug dealer from Fort Pierce and a felon accused of having a firearm were arrested early Friday morning after a chase along U.S. Hwy. 1 and Indian River Blvd.

Indian River County sheriff’s deputies arrested Willie James Robinson and Jacobi Shatarie King on Friday following a chase along U.S. Hwy. 1 and Indian River Blvd.

Willie James Robinson, 31, is accused of fleeing from Indian River County sheriff’s deputies following a traffic stop. Stop sticks were deployed, but Robinson drove into the oncoming lane to avoid them, a report states, adding that deputies eventually were able to end the pursuit by hitting the vehicle with a controlled PIT maneuver in the 4900 block of U.S. Hwy. 1.

Deputies reported recovering 38 grams of MDPV – also known as molly – and a 5.56 pistol with a 50-round magazine, which was located between the driver and a passenger, the report says.

Robinson is facing numerous charges including a felony warrant related to a failure to appear from a prior arrest earlier in the year. His new charges include fleeing and eluding, trafficking of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and driving with a suspended license. His bond on the previous charge was revoked and he is being held at the Indian River County Jail without bond.

Robinson’s passenger, identified as 24-year-old Jacobi Shatarie King, faces a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation. He is being held in the Indian River County Jail on no bond, according to the report.
